Yin Yoga Sequence: 20 Minute At-Home Timesaver Sequence

A Yin Sequence for Home Practice Although I love going to class to practice Yin, being around the energy of the group, teacher and community vibes, sometimes life gets busy and I don’t have time to make it to the studio. Yin teacher training with Sarah Owen really inspired me to implement a short practice into my morning upon waking up, and/or evening before bed, especially for those days I don’t get to class. I really notice the difference in how I feel and it’s super simple, especially for those of you who are pressed for time! One of my …

Yin Yoga Sequence: 40 Minute At-Home Sequence

A Yin Sequence for Home Practice Here’s how you can implement it easily into your day without needing to travel to and from a yoga studio. A pranayama breath practice, 6 poses and Savasana. All you need is about 40 minutes. You can do this on a mat or in bed. Your choice. Remember to notice if you wander off in thought, and use your breath as an anchor to bring you back into presence, either by fully focusing on it, noticing the in breath and/or out breath. Or by feeling it move and flow through you as your body …

Yin Yoga Philosophy: The Gift of Stillness

“Let it be still, and it will gradually become clear.” ~ Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching Modern  life is so busy and it has become even more important to balance the craziness with some down time to stop, slow down, be still and reconnect. Yin Yoga is perfect for this. Not only are we sitting or laying in yoga poses, energy is continually moving within us, emotional and mental states are shifting, and we are aiming to calm the mind and body, so that we can allow ourselves to simply, “just be.” Amongst all the to-do lists and the constant …

Yin Yoga Sequence: 75 Minute Grounding Sequence

A Yin Sequence for Teachers or Your Own Home Practice Earth – Sky – Earth… I put these poses together in this order, to signify the journey of beginning at home on the Earth, face down, heart open towards her, then moving up towards the sky, and eventually coming back down to the ground, returning home, to Mother Earth. During this sequence, I imagine and feel myself being completely supported by the Earth beneath me, allowing me to relax, soften and ground. I invite you to do the same, if this resonates with you.     Pose Time Modifications Wide …

Life is Precious

My biggest fear hit me head on yesterday. I lost my Dad 11 years ago + deep down I fear something happening to my Mum. Then I was slapped in the face with it when I heard she was in a car accident. Thankfully she is ok, but it killed me to know she was hurt, especially when I first saw her in hospital. . The car is a complete right off + we’re so lucky she has come away with what seems to be fairly minor. Most importantly she will be fine. . This emotional experience has put so …

The Power of Circles

I realised something after leaving women’s circle the other day…. I feel that gathering in circle is one of the most powerful forms of healing… Whether it is a women’s circle, men’s circle, community circle, chanting circle, sound healing circle, yoga circle, drumming circle, gifting circle, music circle, meditation circle, parenting circle, creativity circle, tea ceremony, sacred ceremony or any other kind of circle…. The magic is in the circle 🌟🌟 A circle represents a safe container. A circle represents a place where we are all equal. A circle has no beginning or end. There is no separation.. This represents …

Yin Yoga Philosophy: Knowing Thyself

Oh Yin Yoga, you are delicious…. I did my second Yin Yoga Teacher Training recently and I am always reminded how amazing it is when I slow down, be still and become aware. This then allows me to receive the gifts of being able to watch (my stuff) and listen (to the wisdom within). Have you practised Yin before? I love love love how I feel, both when practising and teaching. My Yin practice enables me to reconnect with and remember that peaceful place within, and it’s from that place that I can discover deeper parts within myself and become …

Reconnecting with Sound: Lessons from the Native American Flute

The more I walk down this path of consciousness, expansion and heart opening, the more I reconnect with sound, vibration, music 🎶 I am currently learning to play the Native American Flute, which will no doubt start to show up in some of my offerings eventually. This instrument is mesmerising and touches me deeply… Here’s what this beautiful sound healing instrument has reminded me of and shown me so far… 🌀 I am sound. I am vibration. Sound and music are the language of the soul. I can’t understand it intellectually, but I can feel it and experience the resonance. …

Where Do I “Fit” In?

Where do I “fit” In? This is the question I asked myself for a very long time, ever since I was in school. It became clear to me many years ago that I was “different.” At least that’s how my mind perceived me to be (perpetuating the separation). . I did my fair share of partying, drinking and taking drugs back in the day. But after a while it started to get old and this highlighted to me how different my interests and aspirations started to become to my closest friend groups at the time. . While others were working …

I remember you. You’re the mother whose kids have grown up, and you’ve spent most of your life making others happy, losing yourself, but now taking the time to find yourself… I remember you.
